We’ve got another fantastic new addition to our team starting from October! Joanna Berglund, a future star in UX Design from STI, will be doing her internship with us at Talking to me. Want to know more about Joanna and discover her talents? Take a look at the interview below. 💫
Hi Joanna, and welcome to Talking to me! We are thrilled to have you here as our new intern. To get to know you better, could you tell us a bit about yourself?
Joanna: Hello! Thank you so much! I’ve always been a creative person who loves to create. It initially led me to fashion design, where I delved into the technical production behind fashion. After a while, I realized that the fashion industry wasn’t quite my thing. Instead, I worked in leadership roles in the retail and restaurant industries for many years. My interest in human behavior and interactions has always been there, and that’s what drew me to explore UX design when I decided to return to my studies.
That sounds like an exciting journey you’ve had. Can you tell us more about what your education in UX Design at STI entails?
Joanna: Absolutely! In my education, we go through UX processes with a focus on designing and creating functionality that takes into account the user’s perspective. We work with use cases, prototype design, user surveys, and testing. We also learn about agile methods and how to effectively communicate and facilitate the work process. All our projects are done in groups, which has given me a greater insight into what it’s like to work in a team. I’ve truly learned the importance of collaboration and finding solutions together through communication and applying our knowledge in practice.
Exciting! What attracted you to want to do your internship at Talking to me?
Joanna: AI was something I was extremely curious about because it’s an industry that’s constantly evolving on a daily basis. I met Erik during an event at CMNTY, the co-working space we now sit in, and he told me about what Talking to me is all about and how they work. I asked Erik if there was an opportunity to do my internship here, and after a few meetings, it felt like a really good match for both of us. Now, I’m here, and I’m super excited to learn more and contribute to your projects!
Fantastic to hear! Finally, can you share three things you’re passionate about, aside from UX design?
Joanna: Absolutely! First and foremost, I’m truly passionate about user-centered problem solving and inclusive design. It’s something I believe is incredibly important. Secondly, I’m a real nerd when it comes to fitness and health. I love learning about how the body and brain function. And last but not least, I’m passionate about continuous development. I believe you can always learn more, both about yourself, your profession, and your surroundings.
And finally, if we’re going a bit beyond Talking to me and UX Design, what’s a hidden talent you have?
Re-design in all its forms; clothing, textile art, furniture, and interior design. I’m not sure if it’s a talent, but I find it very enjoyable!
